Outreach Within Our School
In addition to connecting with people in the greater community, we've participated in several events within our school's community in an attempt to build interest in robotics. We have presented to our entire school multiple times throughout the season to update our peers on our accomplishments. We have also attended multiple board meetings and donor events by request of our Head of School.
STEM Day at Victory Field
We partnered with one of our sponsors, IN-MaC, to host a booth for STEM Day at Victory Field. FRC Team, Red Alert, graciously allowed us borrow their frisbee-throwing robot (since ours was bagged between competitions). Children attending the event (and even a mascot!) were allowed the chance to shoot and catch frisbees. Many were enthusiastic to learn how the robot works. Thank you so much to IN-MaC for inviting us to this event!
Demonstration at Sycamore
The Sycamore School is a local K-8 school that teaches gifted students. They were kind enough to invite our team to present our robot to a group of middle schoolers. We were able to talk about the build process, overcoming challenges, finding support, and lessons learned from the competitions. Students were then encouraged to ask questions and drive the lift and intake system of the robot. Thank you so much to Sycamore for inviting us! We had a great time.
The Triangle Conference
Triangle invited FIRST to host booths at their conference this summer. We worked alongside several other teams: #3176, #7198, and #1529 to engage more interest in F.I.R.S.T. robotics. Thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of the conference!
AIAA Conference
We attended the AIAA Aerospace Conference, which was sponsored by one of our partners, Rolls Royce. The conference offered an opportunity for middle and high school students to explore their interests in STEM and talk to experts in aerospace (including an astronaut!) We also learned about NASA's Artemis mission and their plans for the next fifty years. Thank you so much to Rolls Royce for this incredible opportunity. We had a blast!
Demonstration at Orchard
The Sycamore School is a local K-8 school. They were kind enough to invite our team to present our robot to three periods of eighth graders. We were able to talk about our experiences, show a short video, and talk about the program. Students were then encouraged to ask questions and drive the robot. Thank you so much to Orchard for being such gracious hosts, and we hope to come again soon!
Purdue Forums |
This was less of an outreach event and more of an opportunity for us to learn! From building better bumpers to preventing burnout, the event encouraged mentors and students alike to teach other teams about what they've learned from their experiences. We learned a whole lot! Thank you so much to Purdue, Indiana FIRST, and the teams presenting for an amazing day! We also met up with some old friends. It was really nice to have lunch with some University High School alums. They're doing amazing things at Purdue.
